» Artists » Jane Tippett

Jane Tippett was born in London in 1949. After periods spent at Canterbury and Cheltenham Art Schools she completed her training at the Royal Academy Schools and then became Artist in Residence at Oundle School from 1979-81. While at the Royal Academy Schools she won the "David Murray Studentship for Landscape Painting" on three occasions. In 1977 she first exhibited with the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers and Engravers. In 1981 Agnew's Albemarle Street Gallery exhibited a collection of beautifully painted garden views. The following year she participated in the Curwen Gallery "Interiors" Exhibition. Two very successful exhibitions of her paintings have been held at the Church Street Gallery in Saffron Walden in 1983 and 1984 establishing a reputation for her detailed and enchanting paintings. She has also exhibited for many years at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. A commission to make her first lithograph in 1981 aroused a keen interest in exploring the new skills and techniques this medium demanded enabling her to translate the richness and delicacy of her paintings into print form. Jane Tippet now lives and works in Cambridge.
