Michael Chaplin was born in 1943 in Huntingdonshire and was educated at St. Albans Boys Grammar School. He studied Graphics at Watford Scool of Art 1960-63 and after various jobs such as teaching and illustration work he studied Post-Graduate Printmaking at Brighton College of Art from 1966-67. In 1972 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers of which he is a Council Member. He has taught printmaking at various art colleges and is at present Court Tutor in the printmaking department of Kingston Polytechnic. Michael Chaplin lives in Kent with his wife Gay and their children Nicholas and Briony. Michael's work is represented widely in private collections in the USA Canada most European countries and Australia. Many public collection worldwide also own copies of his prints. He has been a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Show since 1966 and his work has been exhibited widely in the UK and in other parts of the world including Seoul in Korea Copenhagen and most recently at Wenniger Graphics in Boston USA.
